An M-series Mac is a computer that uses and Apple Silicon chip rather than an Intel chip. The current series includes M1, M2, M3 and M4 chips. You can see whether your Mac has an Apple Silicon chip by accessing About This Mac via the Apple menu in the upper left hand corner of your screen. An example is shown below.
